Ahead His Time: Fela Listening experience

Ahead of His Time

A Fela Kuti Listening Experience

Saturday, 24 October 2026 · Sparrows Creek 9 a.m. into the evening

What have we been taught to believe about ourselves, and what are we ready to question?

Join us for a day of river care, Fela Kuti’s music, creative expression and community connection. We’ll listen, share perspectives, make art and close with music we create together.

At the heart of the experience are three tracks: Water No Get Enemy, Colonial Mentality and Teacher Don’t Teach Me Nonsense; starting points for conversations about identity, education, decolonising our minds and caring for what we share.

Joining us

Community contribution: KSh 300 upwards. Transport: We’ll coordinate a Nairobi meeting point and travel information so attendees can journey together. Details will follow.

Bring: Comfortable clothes, closed shoes for the cleanup, a reusable water bottle and a warm or rain layer. Come with any musical Instruments if you have. Old magazines or art materials to share are welcome too.
